Questions we can answer
Zero waste tips for beginners, kitchen swaps, beeswax wraps usage and care, composting food scraps at home, plastic free food storage, how to buy in bulk, and the upcycling vs recycling difference are all fair game. If your question is about a specific guide, tell us which one and we will point you to the paragraph or update it.
What we can’t help with
We can’t give advice on individual council services, and we don’t handle bookings, repairs or product issues. We’re an editorial site, not a service. For council-specific questions, check your local authority’s website first; it will be more accurate than anything we can say from outside.
Response times
We aim to reply within a few working days. Messages that need research take longer, and we may not reply to every note if it’s already covered on a page. If your question is about an existing guide, check the page first; the answer may already be there. Writing during UK office hours usually gets a quicker reply.
Privacy and your message

If you’d like a guide on something we don’t cover, describe what you’d want it to answer. A specific problem is more useful to us than a general request.

Names the constraint, the reader, and the question. We can act on this one.
“More sustainable lifestyle habits, please.”
True, but it doesn’t tell us which habit, which room, or which obstacle you ran into.
A couple of sentences is enough. If you tried a swap and it failed, tell us why: the lid didn’t seal, the refill shop was too far, the cloth went stiff. That detail is the difference between a note we file and a guide we write.
We keep a running list and work through it over time. There’s no guarantee every suggestion becomes a page, but they do shape what we write. Requests that overlap with guides already in progress usually appear first.

Before you write, a few things worth checking
Is the answer already on a guide page?
Most questions about reusing everyday items, plastic free alternatives and zero waste kitchen swaps are covered in the guides already. Check the relevant page first—if the answer is thin, that is useful feedback in itself, and worth telling us.
Will you recommend specific products or suppliers?
We describe categories and what to look for—material, size, whether something is repairable—rather than pushing a single shop. If you want help comparing plastic free food storage or reusable produce bags, we can explain the trade-offs between types of container or bag, and let you decide where to buy.
Can you tell me which bin my council takes?
No. Collection rules vary street to street and change often. Your council’s own website will always be more accurate than anything we can say from outside your area, so start there before writing to us about it.
How do I report an error in a guide?
Name the page and quote the line that looks wrong. Corrections to figures, materials or instructions are taken seriously, and we will update the page where the point stands. If a rule has changed, a link to the source helps us check it quickly.
